Newberry County

Newberry County embraced the opportunity to build a custom DEE Roadmap to help them ignite a new economy and increase workforce development while maintaining the small-town charm and vibe that makes the county an ideal place to live.

Their DEE project started in the fall of 2022 with a series of interviews with local leaders, followed by Broadband Champion training. Spearheaded by the Newberry Chamber and Newberry’s NFT Museum, a DEE Dream Team was formed.

Starting in November 2022, 12 community leaders met regularly for the next eight months to develop a Roadmap with strategies and projects designed to engage the community, attract more residents, spark an innovation culture, and improve quality of life.

Among their goals, Newberry’s DEE Dream Team plans to implement the Spark Hive Innovation, Co-Working & Training Center to connect residents to opportunities to gain new skills and access higher-paying local and remote jobs.
