South Carolina Rural Innovation Network

Empowering Rural Communities
to Create Digital Prosperity

You don’t need to live in a big city to benefit from the world’s fast-growing tech economy.

You just need an action plan that leverages community assets and unlocks opportunities for modern jobs, training initiatives, entrepreneurial activity, and innovation.

Together with rural community leaders across the Palmetto state, we’re developing custom roadmaps to launch and grow digital economies and ecosystems.

And we’re connecting people, ideas, and programs to make it happen.

Your zip code doesn’t have to determine the depth of your skills, your paycheck size, or what the future holds. In a digital world, you can live where you want and do the job you want.

Join our quest to help rural communities thrive.

Guiding the Development of Digital Economy Ecosystems (DEE)

The digital divide across our state impacts rural communities facing gaps in literacy, skills training, job opportunities, broadband accessibility, and affordability.

The good news is that a promising shift is underway.

We’re writing a new chapter dedicated to an economic and cultural transformation in partnership with towns and counties from the Lowcountry to the Upstate. We’re changing trajectories and elevating local pride by helping forward-focused communities develop economic development strategies to grow their digital workforce and expand their talent pipeline.

Advancing Digital Skills, Jobs, Conversations & Mindsets

From e-commerce advancements to remote work opportunities, Digital Economy Ecosystems can transform the health and wealth of a small town or county and the quality of life of its citizens.

Through roadmap development, we guide rural communities to assess needs and opportunities and set short and long-term goals, starting with digital skilling courses, co-working spaces, and innovation centers.

We explore digital economy success stories near and far and establish communication practices to enlighten and engage more people effectively.

Creating a Network of Like-Minded, Tech-Focused Communities

While no two rural communities are the same, there are many similarities, like declining populations, high school graduates who move away after college, and a large number of households without reliable internet, computers, or phones.

Our growing network of Digital Economy Ecosystem communities is a source of idea sharing, resource swapping, strategic enrichment, and encouraging support through this ongoing period of digital transformation.
